City Access

Air Travel

Akita City has an airport that receives flights from neighbouring cities daily. You can take flights from Tokyo, Sapporo, Nagoya, and Osaka. From Tokyo and Sapporo flights are approximately an hour long. From the other cities, it is approximately an hour and a half. From the airport, you can make use of buses or taxis to reach Akita station, Tazawa-ko, NyutoOnsen, or Kakunodate.

Train Travel

You can also reach Akita City by train. The journey from Tokyo to Akita is approximately four hours. The train runs from Tokyo or Ueno Station through Omiya, Sendai, and Morioka. You must reserve your train seat ahead of time. There is also a luxury train tour available on the Resort Shirakami.

Bus Travel

You can choose long-distance highway buses to get to Akita City. The travel by bus takes approximately 8 hours from Tokyo to Akita City. You can also take the bus to get to Sendai, Yuzawa, and Noshiro. You can also use buses within Akita City to get around and see all the sights.

Ferry Travel
